Hi! Welcome to mama's place.

I'm your typical stay at home mom. I have a mix of boys and girls. Our family is active in church, school, sports, and the arts. I drive a van..

No, not a minivan...a van. I have to because I have six kids. Thus the name mama's place. Our kids range from one year old to fourth grade. They're a pretty friendly bunch...but I'll be the first to admit my home & physique resembles Erma Bombeck's more than Vicki Iovine's.

It does make for some interesting stories though. That's why I thought I'd try a blog. I thought it might be fun to have a place to share about life with my kids. To protect them, I'm not going to name where we live, or use their names. I think I'll just make up names in alphabetical order by age to help us out.

#1 we'll call Abe. He's a congenial 4th grader. He's kind of the all American kid in our family, okay at sports, smart, funny....but he's still a kid and does crazy things sometimes....like spray painitng his hair purple for a football game! It took days to wash out, and it looked PINK in his blonde hair.

#2 we'll call Bob. He's in second grade, and has the cutest front toothless smile right now. He's my celiac kid....who also can't have casein. I'll be posting gluten-free dairy free recipes from time to time that are kid tested and approved! So far, I've adapted recipes for sandwich bread w/ teff, spice cookies w/ quinoa, pumpkin/banana cake w/ sorghum, carrot cake w/ amaranth, zucchini bread, etc. It's fun! We all eat a lot healthier thanks to him.

#3 is our kindergten boy. Let's refer to him as Chip. Yeah, like chipmunk because he's so busy! He's playing flag football this fall. His first game is next Saturday!

Now we're finally to our girls. #4 is princess D. She's four and KNOWS she's a princess. She loves pink and purple, dress up and dinosaurs. She likes soccer and race cars too. Princess D helps our health food quest w/ her corn sensitivity.

#5 is princess P. She's two and acts like it. I call her and #6, our one year old Baby Guy, the destructive duo. They have many adventures together that you, dear reader can laugh and cry about right along with me.

My hubby is Mr. M. He's superdad, seriously! I've never known another man who does the dishes and the laundry! AND puts the kids to bed. His greatest weakness...basketball. It's a good thing I like it too!

So that's who we are, glad to meet you.
